CBI director general Digby Jones has written to the education secretary, warning him that a failure to solve a dispute over VAT could force the private sector to pull out of the Connexions services for young people.

Jones warned Charles Clarke that the uncertainty was also affecting companies considering getting involved in other public sector projects.
