There is a "definite link" between Britain and the terrorists behind the Madrid bombings, according to the Metropolitan Police chief.

Sir John Stevens said there was a "definite link" between British-based al Qaeda supporters and the people who carried out the Spain attack killing 202 people.

"We believe there is a London link with what happened in Madrid," he said.
