Beckett considers badger cull
Environment secretary Margaret Beckett admitted yesterday that she might order a cull of badgers, after listening to farmers' concerns over the spread of bovine TB among Britain's livestock.
"I am open to radical solutions," she said. "If scientific evidence suggests that badger culling would be effective, I will want to consider if we can develop a practical and cost-effective policy."
