Lloyd's Names face diminished role
Lloyd's of London is to announce controversial proposals to revise the 1982 act of parliament that governs the UK insurance market.
Corporate investors now guarantee 80 per cent of underwriting capacity, and many Names, the individuals who have traditionally provided the insurance industry's capital, fear that the new legislation would further marginalise their status as co-owners of Lloyd's.
