Labour peers are angry over Tony Blair's decision to sack the government's chief whip in the Lords in order to replace him with a leading Blairite, today's Times reports.

The new chief whip, Lord Grocott, is a former parliamentary private secretary to Tony Blair, and peers believe that his elevation was due to his predecessor Lord Carter's leniency in dealing with Labour peers who voted against the government.
