Republican poll hopes may be dashed by US inquiry
Sinn Fein's hopes of making large gains in Ireland's general elections which began yesterday may be hit by revelations of IRA involvement in Colombia.
Following a meeting with Tony Blair, Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble called for the IRA to be disbanded, warning Gerry Adams to control republican paramilitaries.
