Charles Kennedy will next week pledge Liberal Democrat support to dedicate National Insurance contributions to the NHS.

The party will also drop its policy to raise an extra penny on income tax for education, when economic spokesman Matthew Taylor announces plans for the "hypothecated" NHS tax.
