BAE Systems is to withdraw its cross-party sponsorship of political parties following the controversy surrounding Tony Blair's decision to support the company's effort to secure a Czech jet contract.

The firm is said to be angered that it has become embroiled in the sleaze row - saying Labour had "turned commendable openness into an effective own goal".
