CDC under fire
The partially privatised Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) came under fire from MPs yesterday, who claimed that executives put "profit before any poverty focus."
The CDC has been criticised for not investing more in agriculture and education, instead favouring technology projects with higher yields.
International development minister Hilary Benn defended the CDC, claiming that some projects needed to yield higher profits to encourage private sector investment in developing countries.
