Tony Blair told MPs that a row over the teaching of Christian "creationism" in a state school's science lessons was "exaggerated".

Responding to a PMQs intervention by Lib Dem MP Jenny Tonge, the prime minister said that the school - Gateshead's Emmanuel College - produced good results and reflected a "diverse school system".

Leading scientists have called on Ofsted to re-inspect the school.
