Advisers to be investigated

The relationships between ministers, special advisers and permanent civil servants are to be investigated by the committee for standards in public life, it was announced yesterday.

The chairman of the committee, Sir Nigel Wicks, said: "The inquiry will focus on the boundaries and relationships between the three parts of the executive. It will consider the delineation of these boundaries and compliance with them."
