Conservative Party vice chairman and former shadow international development secretary Gary Streeter has called for increased government intervention in the running of the Commonwealth Development Corporation, in a bid to return its focus back to its founding principles.

Streeter also criticised the organisation for supporting higher risk industries in developing countries and for abandoning the more traditional sectors of those economies.
