A National Audit Office report has found that Derek Casey, formally chief executive of Sport England, was given a £500,000 payout by the Treasury and the Department of Culture Media and Sport after being dismissed from the organisation.

The package was agreed by sports minister Richard Caborn after lawyers concluded that any legal challenge by Casey was likely to be successful.
