Stem cell research to get go ahead

The world's first stem cell bank is to be set up in Britain next year, it is reported today.

A meeting of the Lords committee on stem cell research is expected to give qualified approval to the move.

Medical charities have welcomed the prospect, while pro-life groups have branded the suggestion as "horrible".
