Ministers have signalled that they have strong reservations about EU moves to give temps the same rights as full time staff.

They are calling on Brussels to adopt a flexible approach which would not conflict with UK employment practices.

Business yesterday condemned reports of a change in the law, saying it would be "very damaging" to the UK's labour market.
