The UK government will today press its Commonwealth partners to suspend Zimbabwe.

Britain will also call for the EU and US to synchronise sanctions against Robert Mugabe and his regime.

Jack Straw will today meet with his Commonwealth colleagues, ahead of a meeting tomorrow with US secretary of state Colin Powell.
