US climb down on Camp X-Ray conditions
The US has launched a review into conditions at the controversial Camp X-Ray following an international outcry over the treatment of al Qaeda suspects.
Commanders at the Cuban military base have introduced changes to the regime following a visit by Red Cross inspectors early this week.
The Mirror has contacted former PoW from the Vietnam war, Colonel James Hughes, who calls on the US to "ease up" on the prisoners.
Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith appeared on American television last night, reassuring viewers that Britain was behind current arrangements at the base.
"The vast majority of British people recognise with great thanks what's been going on in this war. They support our American friends," he said.
