Boothroyd criticises Filkin
The former speaker Betty Boothroyd has criticised the outgoing standards commissioner, Elizabeth Filkin, for making herself "too accessible" to the media.
She said Filkin was a servant of the Commons and as such should have maintained an arms-length relationship with the press lobby.
A Guardian poll published today finds that two-thirds of voters believes MPs were wrong to force out the commissioner.
