Supporters of Keith Vaz mounted a whispering campaign against the parliamentary commissioner for standards, Elizabeth Filkin, the Guardian has revealed. The paper suggests the move formed part of a campaign to discredit Filkin, who was probing the affairs of the former Europe minister.
