New deal for dole claimants

Long-term unemployment benefit claimants are to be told to take a job or take a hike, under tough new rules announced by the government.

Alistair Darling announced the move, which forms part of a £40 million drive which guarantees a state-funded job for many unemployed adults, in the Commons yesterday.
