Breast cancer is now the most common type of cancer in Britain, overtaking lung cancer for the first time, it has been revealed.

Lifestyle changes such as having babies later, higher levels of obesity in older women and the fact that women are living longer may explain the shift, according to the Imperial Cancer Research Fund and the Cancer Research Fund.
