Conservatives bid to boost women candidates

The Conservative Party is to introduce quotas requiring parliamentary shortlists to be made up of 50 per cent women in a bid to increase the number of female MPs.

The move was backed by the Conservative Women's National Council, which began its annual conference yesterday.
