Manufacturers attack Brown's 'missed opportunity'
Britain's hard-hit manufacturers have criticised the chancellor for not making any substantial moves to assist the sector during yesterday's pre-budget report.
They said Gordon Brown had "missed the opportunity" to deliver short-term relief to manufacturers - who, the chancellor admitted, are technically facing a recession in the sector.
However, small businesses welcomed moves to extend tax breaks for growing firms but warned the chancellor that he had excluded unincorporated businesses in the plans.
