Ministers set to liberalise media ownership rules
The government has proposed a new system of biennial reviews of media ownership rules in a move which could prompt significant consolidation in the sector. Publishing a consultation paper yesterday, ministers set the stage for an expansion of Rupert Murdoch's empire into terrestrial television and the merger of Carlton Communications and Granada.
