Government accused over civil liberties
The Conservatives have accused the government of harming the freedom of the individual in its fight against crime.
Speaking during the opening debate of the second reading of the Proceeds of Crime Bill in the House of Commons, shadow home secretary Oliver Letwin said the bill "contains elements which give rise to very serious concerns about the balance between the state and the individual and about civil liberties."
