Steven Norris has warned Iain Duncan Smith that he will quit the Tories unless it shifts its "xenophobic, homophobic and vaguely racist" approach to politics.

Norris told a fringe dinner that he would not defend "angry, disagreeable and often downright unpleasant" Conservative policies on Europe, asylum and gays.
