While Tony Blair called on the public not to panic following the anthrax attacks in America, and now Kenya, Downing Street has asked the media not to report anthrax scares in Britain.

So far, all have proved unfounded and may have been hoaxes, and officials said coverage would raise the "fear factor" among the population.
