Ministers rethink MS drugs strategy
The government is negotiating with drugs companies to find a way to allow the prescription of the drug Beta-interferon for MS sufferers who would respond positively to the treatment.
The move follows a preliminary recommendation from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence which suggested it would not be cost-effective to sanction the widespread use of the drug within the NHS.
