Christianity 'nearly vanquished'
Pop music, new age beliefs, environmentalism, the occult and free market economics have "nearly vanquished" Christianity, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor told priests yesterday.
The cardinal, leader of the country's 4.1 million Roman Catholics, also spoke of the damage done to his church by child abuse scandals involving the priesthood.
