The prime minister has moved to quell the rising tide of anti-Muslim sentiment in the UK. Writing in the British Muslim newspaper, the Daily Jang, he said that Britain's Muslims should not be blamed for last week's attacks on the US.

His intervention came as the police were urged to take action against a British Muslim leader who has been accused of breaking new terrorism laws by making a death threat against the president of Pakistan.
