Downing Street cools on 'dead or alive' demand

Downing Street has refused to back president Bush's declaration that he wanted Osama Bin Laden "dead or alive".

Declining to endorse the statement, the prime minister's spokesman said that "the president and the prime minister continue to dicuss matters in a calm and measured way".
