Further rate cuts called into question

With unemployment falling to the lowest level since 1975 and pay continuing to rise, the City yesterday changed its predictions on interest rate cuts.

With the data challenging the view that the economy is sliding into recession analysts predicted that the Bank of England, which was split on the last rate cut, will reject calls for a further reduction in interest rates.
