Price probe raids on mobile firms

The European Commission raided the offices of phone companies in Britain and Germany yesterday as part of an investigation into price-fixing. The Commission said it was concerned that customers were being over-charged when using their phones abroad.

The Commission has the power to fine the firms up to 10 per cent of their world-wide turnover. The companies denied any price-fixing and said that the charges were competitive.
