Brown's figures challenged
The Institute for Fiscal Studies publishes "UK investment: high, low, rising, falling" today.
The briefing note argues that Gordon Brown's budget claim that the percentage of GDP spent on business investment is over 14 per cent is untrue.
The IFS finds that the share of GDP was 12.3 per cent in 2000, up on the level of 11.5 per cent in 1997, but well down on 14.1 per cent in 1989.
