A cross-party group of MPs yesterday launched an email campaign to get Coca-Cola consumers to force the company to back the Kyoto agreement against global warming.

The company is in the MPs' sights because of its $1 million in contributions to the Bush campaign fund and they hope that pressure on a major backer will convince president Bush to honour his campaign pledge to sign up to Kyoto.

Nigel Griffiths, Peter Bottomley and Tom Brake are the main MPs behind the campaign, which is backed by the National Union of Students.
