Government ministers from the world's richest countries are today expected to end the practice of giving aid to developing countries only if the recipient countries agree to place orders with companies from the donor countries.

A meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is expected to end "tied aid", following the example set by Britain last year. The move has been welcomed by development charities such as ActionAid.
