A report circulating in the Ministry of Defence claims that manpower shortages will force the Army to cut as many as ten regiments.

Defence minister John Spellar yesterday confirmed that there are currently 8,000 vacancies in the Army. He denied that the government plans to restructure infantry and armoured regiments.
