End in sight for the hospital 'superbug'

Scientists have completed the DNA profiling of staphylococcus aureus, a so-called "superbug".

It is hoped that this breakthrough will expose the weaknesses of the bug and all its various strains such as MRSA and VRSA which have affected patients in hospitals across the world.

The Japanese researchers found 70 new genes which they hope could affect the bugs' infectious power and provide targets for new treatments.
