A "strike" by GPs will mean that around 100 surgeries will close on May 1. The action was spurred by an article in "Doctor" magazine which called for unofficial action. The BMA does not endorse the action as no ballot has yet been held.

Many other GPs are taking less direct action, such as writing to MPs and joining a march to the Department of Health.
