Labour's 79 special advisers have been sent a written reminder that they are forbidden to exploit their civil service roles to help the party during a general election.

Civil service chief, Sir Richard Wilson, is to request Tony Blair's agreement to the publication of the guidelines before the dissolution of parliament.
