The Commons Trade and Industry Committee has attacked the way telecoms regulator Oftel has handled internet liberalisation as "almost farcical".

It accused Oftel of a lack of understanding on technical issues involved in "local loop unbundling" and say it should have intervened earlier to prevent BT from disrupting increased competition in the industry.
