The foot and mouth disease outbreak that is paralysing the British livestock industry dominates today's press.

It has emerged that sheep from a farm in Devon, confirmed as a site of foot and mouth, have been exported to France. There are now eight confirmed outbreaks across the country, and MAFF has begun burning the carcasses of animals from infected farms.

City dwellers are not escaping the effects of the outbreak, as London parks were closed to the public to protect the deer who live in the parks.

Agriculture minister Nick Brown is to make an emergency statement to the Commons this afternoon before flying to Europe to meet other agriculture ministers.
