Police leaders have attacked BBC director general, Greg Dyke, for comparing the "hideously white" corporation's problems of ethnic recruitment to that of the Metropolitan Police. Dyke went on to say: "We've both got a problem in this area but this is an organisation [the BBC] that understands the problem and wants to do something about it. I am not at all sure the Metropolitan Police, at all sorts of levels, want to do something about it."
