Tube ballot over safety fears

Rail union leaders will this week back calls for industrial action over tube safety. Balloting of RMT and ASLEF members will begin on Thursday.

London Underground bosses and senior Labour figures have accused the London mayor, Ken Livingstone, of exaggerating safety fears and union dissent in support of his campaign against the government's public-privatisation plans.
