The Home Office's official index of car theft in the year 2000 shows that older vehicles are the most likely to be stolen. The UK's most stolen car was the Nissan Laurel, whilst the least stolen vehicles were people carriers. The index estimates that car crime costs the UK £3.5 billion a year but is falling.
