The Conservatives have backed new government measures to curb car crime by introducing new measures to regulate the motor salvage industry, new powers allowing the police access to insurance databases and the direct funding of speed cameras from fixed penalties.

The Telegraph suggests, however, that the Vehicles (Crime) Bill will not reach the statute book before the next election.
