The European Commission president, Romano Prodi, has issued an outspoken attack on Tony Blair ahead of this week's European Summit in Nice. In an interview with the Independent, he said that the British position on the veto was unreasonable and the government's attitude "very strange". The Telegraph reports how Germany's demands for more votes, to reflect its increased size after reunification, is threatening to wreck the prospects of an agreement at the summit.
