The former speaker, Betty Boothroyd, is battling to keep her Christian name when she moves to the House of Lords. She has been told by the College of Arms that if she wants to remain "Betty" she must change her name by deed poll to "Betty-Boothroyd", then becoming Baroness Betty-Boothroyd.
