Tuesday fringe picks - God or no God?

Tuesday kicks off with the "No Prayer" breakfast at 8am, with the humanists discussing the role of the non-religious in opposition.

Polly Toynbee and Kelvin Hopkins are on the panel.

At the same time the Christian Socialist Movement fringe will be discussing the crisis in affordable housing at their prayer breakfast with Alun Michael.

There is also an early start for Tom Watson, who will be on the panel for the 8.45am Channel 4, Nominet Trust and Prospect fringe on "The DIY Generation: Education 2.0".

At 12.30pm the Hansard Society will be asking Jack Straw, Stella Creasey, John Cryer and the ever-popular Polly Toynbee how MPs can fulfil all the roles expected of them.

And Gilead will be launching a new campaign at the same time aiming to reduce late presentation of HIV.

Mehdi Hasan and Hazel Blears will be discussing how the left can engage with Islamists at 12.45pm.

Defence Matters, Unite & Dods are hosting a fringe at 1pm on Afghanistan and beyond - shadow defence secretary Bob Ainsworth is on the panel.

At 5.30pm John Denhan, Cllr Stephen Houghton from Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Daniel Trilling, Deputy Culture Editor of the New Statesman, will be discussing how Labour can reconnect with the white working class vote.

NUS, million+ and Dods will be hosting an event on higher education funding at 5.45pm - David Lammy and NUS president Aaron Porter are on the panel.

The Fabian Society is hosting a fringe on women in politics at 6pm, with Fiona Mactaggart, Bonnie Greer and Beatrix Campbell.

At the same time Progress will be speaking to Yvette Cooper, John Denham and TUC gen sec Brendan Barber at a question time event.

At 8pm Energy UK, the Association of Electricity Producers, Energy Networks Association, Energy Retail Association, UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy will be holding their reception.

Shadow climate change minister Emily Thornberry is expected to attend.

And finally Labour Students will be holding their "disco" at 9pm, but members of the media are banned from attending.
