MP's speech interrupted by 'bizarrely appropriate' ring tone

During a debate yesterday on how to prevent wars and conflicts around the world John McDonnell speech was interrupted by his phone ringing.

The ring tone was the Bruno Mars hit "I’d Catch a Grenade for You," which, as McDonnell pointed out, was "bizarrely appropriate".

the Labour MP later took to Twitter to explain: "Embarrassed when speaking today in Commons on conflict prevention my iPhone went off playing Bruno Mars "Catch a Grenade for you." Ironic!"

Perhaps in an effort to resuce his musical credibility he later said: "Got the Clash on phone too but can't understand why the music player picked this one to play."

He added: "Really eclectic mix on my phone from Gill Scott Heron to Pete Seeger, Style Council to all sorts. Odd irony that this one came on."
